Creating a Test Reservation
Use this endpoint to test your integration without creating a real reservation. This endpoint is available only in staging. It is disabled in production. You need a staging access token and a staging facility_id.
Start with the required fields
Only start_time and end_time are required to create a test reservation. Send them as ISO 8601 timestamps. The start time must be before the end time.
POST https://integrations.staging.spothero.com/v2/facilities/{facility_id}/reservations
Authorization: Bearer <staging_access_token>
Content-Type: application/json
{
"start_time": "2030-10-20T10:00:00Z",
"end_time": "2030-10-20T12:00:00Z"
}
Replace {facility_id} with a facility ID from your staging facility list. This smallest request is enough to create a test reservation.
Add vehicle details (optional)
You can add a vehicle object. If you add it, all the fields shown here are required: license plate number, state, country, make, model, color, and oversize status.
{
"start_time": "2030-10-20T10:00:00Z",
"end_time": "2030-10-20T12:00:00Z",
"vehicle": {
"license_plate": {
"number": "TEST123",
"state": "IL",
"country": "US"
},
"make": "Toyota",
"model": "Camry",
"color": "Blue",
"oversize": false
}
}
Vehicle details can help you test lookup by license plate. The example plate is test data; use test data only in staging.
Add customer details (optional)
You can add a customer object. If you add it, include all three fields: name, email, and phone.
{
"start_time": "2030-10-20T10:00:00Z",
"end_time": "2030-10-20T12:00:00Z",
"vehicle": {
"license_plate": {
"number": "TEST123",
"state": "IL",
"country": "US"
},
"make": "Toyota",
"model": "Camry",
"color": "Blue",
"oversize": false
},
"customer": {
"name": "Test Parker",
"email": "test@example.com",
"phone": "+18443247768"
}
}
Add payment details (optional)
You can add a payment_info object. If you add it, include currency, price, oversize fee paid, and oversize fee amount. Price and fee amounts are in cents: 1200 means $12.00.
{
"start_time": "2030-10-20T10:00:00Z",
"end_time": "2030-10-20T12:00:00Z",
"vehicle": {
"license_plate": {
"number": "TEST123",
"state": "IL",
"country": "US"
},
"make": "Toyota",
"model": "Camry",
"color": "Blue",
"oversize": false
},
"customer": {
"name": "Test Parker",
"email": "test@example.com",
"phone": "+18443247768"
},
"payment_info": {
"currency": "USD",
"price": 1200,
"oversize_fee_paid": false,
"oversize_fee_amount": 0
}
}
Complete request example
This example combines the required start and end times with all three optional sections:

Authorization: Bearer <staging_access_token>
Content-Type: application/json
{
"start_time": "2030-10-20T10:00:00Z",
"end_time": "2030-10-20T12:00:00Z",
"vehicle": {
"license_plate": {
"number": "TEST123",
"state": "IL",
"country": "US"
},
"make": "Toyota",
"model": "Camry",
"color": "Blue",
"oversize": false
},
"customer": {
"name": "Test Parker",
"email": "test@example.com",
"phone": "+18443247768"
},
"payment_info": {
"currency": "USD",
"price": 1200,
"oversize_fee_paid": false,
"oversize_fee_amount": 0
}
}
Use the test reservation
A successful request returns a rental_id. This is the reservation ID. Use it with the facility ID to look up the test reservation:
GET https://integrations.staging.spothero.com/v2/facilities/{facility_id}/reservations/{rental_id}
Authorization: Bearer <staging_access_token>
You can also test reservation sync or reservation lookup. If you have registered a staging webhook, check that your endpoint receives and verifies the update.
Do not use a production token or production facility ID with this endpoint.
